Nautical archaeologists have claimed to discover the "monumental" conical stone pile built of large, natural, unhewn basalt cobbles and boulders, on the floor of the Sea of Galilee.  According to the nautical archaeologists, the cone shaped structure may have been built onshore and then submerged by the sea.

In the third quarter, Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reports show that began construction of 7790 houses in Israel only. This comes to an annual drop of 37% compared to the same period last year. Such a low figure recorded for the last time in the second quarter of 2009. Third quarter in 2011 was the stopping rise line in construction of houses in Israel across the country, which lasted five consecutive quarters, an increase of about 4.2% per quarter. Since this quarter, a decline of 6.7% in houses in Israel starts each quarter.

The Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) has uncovered the remains of a liquid extraction installation that were most likely used for pressing wine from grapes. It is also possible that the installation was used to produce wine or alcoholic beverage from other types of fruit that grew in the region. This ancient liquid extraction is believed to have been dated back to the Byzantine period.

Egyptian and Palestinian officials say that Egyptian forces have flooded smuggling tunnels under the border with the Palestinian-ruled Gaza Strip in a campaign to shut them down.  These tunnels are considered to be a vital lifeline for Gaza, bringing in an estimated 30 percent of all goods that reach the enclave and circumventing a blockade imposed by Israel for more than seven years.

For the first time in 7 years, the  Kinneret (Sea of Galilee ) has risen by 13 centimeters, slightly more than 5 inches, since Thursday, when rain and snow stopped falling – as water from last week's precipitation continues to flow into the sea. The fresh-water lake is currently at 211.07 meters below sea level. But despite the encouraging figure, the Kinneret is still three meters short of being full.

Israelis often pray for a rainy winter season. In recent years, there hasn’t nearly been enough precipitation and the Sea of Galilee’s water levels have been dropping. But who would expect a heavy snow downfall?  Only this time, Israel is getting more snow and driving rain than it has in two decades. Reports are surfacing that Iranian Revolutionary Guard commanders are using the services of 5,000 Shiite Hizbullah soldiers to defend Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime against a growing number of anti-government rebel forces.
