Skin Care

The skin is the biggest organ in the human body that covers and protects everything inside your body. The skin is made up of three layers, each with its own important parts. The layer on the outside is called the epidermis. The epidermis is the part of your skin you can see. The next layer down is the dermis. You can't see your dermis because it's hidden under your epidermis. The dermis contains nerve endings, blood vessels, oil glands, and sweat glands. It also contains collagen and elastin, which are tough and stretchy. The nerve endings in your dermis tell you how things feel when you touch them. They work with your brain and nervous system, so that your brain gets the message about what you're touching. The third and bottom layer of the skin is called the subcutaneous layer. It is made mostly of fat and helps your body stay warm and absorb shocks, like if you bang into something or fall down. The subcutaneous layer also helps hold your skin to all the tissues underneath it.

There are many rejuvenating beauty products that guarantee younger and healthier looking skin. Healthy skin starts with a healthy moisture barrier also known as the stratum corneum. It is practically a smooth, beautiful wall that keeps moisture in as it also keeps irritants out. Everything works better when this barrier is healthy and without it, no skin care product will work to its maximum potential. Without this healthy moisture barrier our skin is also at risk for becoming drier, more irritated and more prone to fine lines and wrinkles. Considering this, it makes sense that the number-one beauty product on most women's bathroom counter is a really great moisturizer.

Ceramides
are a naturally occurring lipid and they are critical to healthy skin. The outer most layer of the epidermis is the stratum corneum. The stratum corneum is essentially what stands between us and the environment. It also has responsibility for attracting and holding moisture, regulating body temperature and fighting visible signs of aging. In other words, the straum corneum holds a powerful position in skin health. Ceramide is an important factor for healthy and vibrant looking skin.  In fact, over 20% of the stratum corneum volume is comprised of lipids and 50% of these are the moisture-magnet wonders called ceramides.  Dry and irritation of the skin attributes to the lack of  ceramides Not surprising that young-looking skin is rich in  ceramides.

Almost 80% of skin aging is due to environmental factors such as pollution, the sun, and smoke. These environmental factors can create free radicals, which in turn can cause oxidation, a free radical (also known as the Reactive Oxygen Species) that attacks another molecule and steals an electron from it thereby setting off a chain reaction of free-radical damage to cells.

Skin care is one of the most important components of natural beauty, no matter what your age, skin tone, or skin type. While skin serves as a protection for our internal organs, it is also vulnerable to irritations, injuries and infections caused by weather, illnesses, medication   and other skin disorders. Unlike other organs, it’s essential that you wash your skin at least twice a day. When washing your skin, you should use warm water and mild soap. Doing so prevents the spreading of bacteria and germs. Moreover, it washes away dirt and oil that would normally clog the pores on your skin. It’s also important to treat open wounds by using antibiotic ointments and bandages to keep dirt out. This keeps the dirt out and helps prevent infections.

Skin Treatments

We all want gorgeous skin, but we do not all have the endless resources that enable us to afford all of the expensive skin creams and other products that are on the market. Fortunately, we compiled some cheap skin care secrets that you can follow, all of which are tried and true and make skin look and feel great. Many people resort to herbal skin care products and treatments in order to improve the quality and state of their skin. Herbal products tend to contain all natural ingredients and are free of harsh chemicals and other ingredients that can be drying and irritating to skin.

The Aloe Vera plant is an extremely popular natural remedy used to treat skin and other bodily ailments such as digestion. Not many people are aware of the numerous benefits associated with regular aloe skin care treatment. Aloe contains anti inflammatory properties, scar reducing properties and the ability to help heal wounds, burns, rashes and other skin reactions. Aloe skin care treatment works best if you use the actual plant. Aloe skin care treatment also serves as a natural protective barrier for skin, shielding skin from dangerous toxins. It also helps stimulate healthy cell growth and repairs damaged tissues, which is why it is so great for healing and preventing scars from forming. If you have an open wound or cut, applying aloe directly to the area will destroy bacteria from entering the opening. Many cosmetics companies use aloe in their products, particularly in anti wrinkle creams, facial masks and skin conditioners. Aloe Vera also helps prevent aging, lightens dark spots and reduces pigmentation.

Chamomile
is another one of the more popular herbal skin care ingredients that is known for its relaxing properties, and is used in both skin and hair care for cleansing and soothing benefits. Echinacea is great for regulating and soothing skin and works as a toner for wounds, skin regeneration and infections. Rose petals also have strong properties that stimulate and protect the skin while moisturizing and hydrating at the same time. You can make your own rose water by simply taking a handful of rose petals and soaking them in a bowl of water for several hours. Place them into the refrigerator, and then dip a cotton ball in the cold rose water and use as a toner across your face.

Raw garlic
is another natural and cheap skin care secret that not everyone is aware of. Take several cloves of organic garlic and blend, mix in with juice and then drink the mixture. Garlic is a natural antibiotic and antiviral herb which is not only great for your skin but also for your immune system. And believe it or not, over washing your face is often responsible for causing more breakouts. Washing too often can dry out skin, which then causes it to over produce oils, causing acne. By limiting washing time to twice a day, you are promoting the natural balance of skin and maintaining an essential amount of moisture.
