Visitors Management

As electronic visitor management systems become more common and more powerful, these systems are taking over many of the functions of building security and access control. Many different vendors provide visitor management software and systems.

What does Visitor Management Entail?

A visitor may be registered by on-site staff or the visitor can do it himself depending on the site. The simplest registration involves the recording of the visitor's name and the date of the visit. Other procedures undertaken in the registration process may include printing a personalized badge, collecting a signature and assigning access control rights.

The visit formally begins once the registration is completed and the visitor's contact person at the site is informed of the visitor's arrival. A visitor's movements may be recorded while on the site, depending on the site's security policy. The visit ends when the visitor is released by reception and leaves the site.

The process of visitor management can be combined with the process of access control. This provides several advantages, including allowing the provision of access badges to visitors and the monitoring of visitor movements while on site.

Visitor Management System

The Visitor Management System includes software, equipment, and supplies needed to quickly and easily badge visitors, contractors and temporary employees. With its technical applications in use, the visitor management system provides comprehensive, enterprise-class visitor registration, tracking, reporting and badge printing, as well as web-based pre-registration by employees, access control integration, package and asset management, and employee time and attendance.
