Excellent analytical and organizational skills are one of the most important qualities that an event manager should have. The planner coordinates all the details to help the event run smoothly and meet its objectives. Creative problem-solving skills are helpful, as is a sense of logistics. Communication is also an essential skill. The event planner must be able to comprehend the host’s objectives. He/she must be able to interpolate those objectives impeccably into the event itself. He/she must be able to motivate staff and promote the event. Being socially savvy and having great interpersonal skills are necessary to event planning. Event planners may be expected to interact with people of all ages and all socio-economic groups, and may even need to acquire some cross-cultural skills. High energy and a positive attitude can be helpful when trying to plan an event.

While starting an event planning service doesn’t require a specific college degree, business education and experience is helpful. Anyone who is interested to make a career in this field must complete a graduate degree or diploma from accredited universities or colleges.
