Astaxanthin is a chemical
belonging to a group of pigments called carotenoids. It is found in certain plants and animals. It
occurs naturally in certain algae and causes the pink or red color in salmon,
trout, lobster, shrimp, and other seafood. This algae is also used as a source
for the astaxanthin in supplements.
What you put
in and on your body can make a difference. Some popular brands of cosmetics and
personal care products contain chemicals linked to cancer and birth defects. In
worse case scenarios, most chemicals have never been evaluated for health and
safety. Most toothpastes, personal care products, makeup and skin care products
are filled with ingredients that can cause skin irritation, allergies, or even
more serious health risks.

Every year, people
spurge money on beauty products only to find out that a lot of them are defective.
There is nothing (or almost) more disappointing than purchasing a beauty
product that does not give you the results you were hoping for. People often
get ensnared by enticing commercials promoting beauty products endorsed by
famous celebrities. Manufactures of these products guarantee satisfying results
but yet, some consumers are a little skeptical. There have even been complaints
about side effects due to certain products that manufactures neglect to
mention. Such side effects include irritation on the skin and hair loss caused
by potent chemical ingredients embedded in these products. There are several holistic,
cheap, and harmless ways to restore your beauty. You can even make your own
beauty products using only natural ingredients.
The skin is
the biggest organ in the human body that covers and protects everything inside
your body. The skin is made up of three layers, each with its own important
parts. The layer on the outside is called the epidermis. The epidermis
is the part of your skin you can see. The next layer down is the dermis. You
can't see your dermis because it's hidden under your epidermis. The dermis
contains nerve endings, blood vessels, oil glands, and sweat glands. It also
contains collagen and elastin, which are tough and stretchy. The nerve endings in your dermis tell
you how things feel when you touch them. They work with your brain and nervous
system, so that your brain gets the message about what you're touching. The
third and bottom layer of the skin is called the subcutaneous layer. It is made
mostly of fat and helps your body stay warm and absorb shocks, like if you bang
into something or fall down. The subcutaneous layer also helps hold your skin
to all the tissues underneath it.
Acne responds well to
treatment, especially if treated early, at the onset of the condition.
Treatment is generally offered to prevent scarring, treat area that are
inflamed or painful, limit the formation of other zits, and minimize any stress
or embarrassment associated with acne.
There is no precise
cause of acne. Rather, it is a result of many factors coming together to create
an acne situation. Those who are prone to acne often have skin that is oilier
than average. Excess oil can easily become trapped within the pore, creating an
impaction. Some studies indicate that susceptibility to acne could also be
genetic. Some medications which contain androgen and lithium may cause acne.
Greasy cosmetics may cause acne in some susceptible people. Hormone changes
during pregnancy may cause acne to either develop for the first time, or to
recur.
Acne can affect people
of all races and all ages. Acne most frequently effects teens and preteens. Three
out of four teens will experience acne. Acne strikes both sexes equally, but
teen boys tend to have longer lasting and more severe acne than do girls.
